All the Tooheys home brews seem to be all Lager based. Have you a simple recipe so as to produce some sort of English Bitter, or Pale Ale, or India Pale Ale using your kits, even if I use the Tooheys as a base and then add more brewing ingredients?

Hi, I bought a Tooheys Lager home brew which I have been brewing for 3 years now, however this particular brew kit did not work. The brew didn't start fermenting for 3 days, it now has a SG of 1020 after 8 days, smells like ‘plastic’ and has mild yeast infection.

Question 6
I have been a home brewer for 22 years and have used Tooheys lager kit many times. This last batch took longer than normal to start fermenting, On completion of bottling, I noticed a dark grey yeast scum at the top of the fermenter, and this is normally an orange/yellow colour. The beer has been bottled now for ten days and there is no sign of clearing. I am very particular with my sterilisation and have not experienced this problem before.

Question 8
I purchased a tin of your Classic Dark Ale concentrate since I am Tooheys Old drinker. I followed the instructions to the letter but my brew did not seem to ferment as it did not bubble. I continually checked the SG using my hydrometer and after about 7 days it reached the required SG reading and I bottled my brew. After 3 weeks in the bottle I tried my brew and it is not what I expected it has a very malty flavour. I have previously brewed a Tooheys Draught and it was fine so I can not explain what has happened. A suggestion of how to get a brew that is like your Tooheys Old beer which I drink at the club would be appreciated.

Question 14
We have always brewed with Tooheys home brew kits as they give us the best results. On our last batch everything went fine until we bottled the beer.  After about a week we decided to try it to see what it tasted like.  It tasted like normal dark ale but it was very flat.  Have we done something else wrong?  We put in the carbonation drops as directed or was it just too soon?
